Marder II

Marder II

Original: As an answer to the ever more needed fire power, obselete panzer 2 chassis where matted with modified potent Russian 7,62 anti tank guns in a large number by several hardware companies

Model: 35th scale, 1976 Tamiya "straight from the box".

Build: In the spares box of my old friend and hero Arie Hendriks this 1980-1985 project turns out to be complete and painstakingly painted dark grey with a brush. How to do his hard work honour? Well, lets finish it!. A very thin layer of dulled sand yellow to keep his dark grey as a pre-shade and his cartoon logo in stead of the "KohlenKlau" logo.

The thin grey stripes are also toned down green base colour. All other details to be touched up. One of the most iconic pictures of a Marder II of one of the "kriegsberichter" shows "Kohleklau", fanous cartoon of the day. Arie used a cartoon drawn of him in the 80's on his website. I'm going to recreate that idea.

First assembly and painting details reveals a few things to be done. The big picture shows the panzer grey through the sand as a post shade. It worked!

Somewhere November we sorted out all stuf from Arie's stash and spares. This Marder turns out to be complete, drawing and all, after a brief check. Marders where the make-shift answer to the USSR's tanks form the 1941-1942 actions, and where sand coloured. An ultra thin spray of sand and light grey to tone down the dark panzer grey, and a thin coat of brown on the tracks is the first step in decades after it's 1980-1995 start.
